FARM MANAGER
Veggies to Table seeks an experienced and passionate farm manager To manage our non-profit, organic, no-till, no-spray, vegetable, fruit, and flower farm. This position is for our 2024 season (and beyond) with an ideal start date of Jan 15th.
We seek someone committed to non-profit work, our mission— someone excited to manage the grow-to-donate program on our acre and a half of diversified vegetables, fruit, flowers, and herbs.
Experience
Minimum 5 years organic farming
Experience managing and mentoring a crew
Experience managing volunteers
Deep knowledge of fruit, vegetable, flower, and herb production from seed to table/bouquet in zone 5B
Knowledge of crop planning, soil health, fertility, organic pest control, and succession planting

Record keeping including planting log, crop plan, harvest details, pounds and stems donated
Crop planning and rotation
Building soil
Seedling production, planting,harvesting, and post-harvest of produce, herbs, and flowers
Pest management (we are no spray)

Managing and mentoring our crew and volunteers

VEGGIE FARMER
Veggies to Table seeks a passionate and energetic veggie farmer to work in conjunction with a farm manager, crew, the founders of Veggies to Table, and a lot of motivated volunteers and WWOOFers of all ages. We are in search of someone committed to non-profit work, our mission, and organic, no-till, no-spray farming. We seek someone who is excited to work on our acre and a half of diversified vegetables, fruit, flowers, herbs, and a small orchard.
Our ideal candidate has experience with organic no-till practices, volunteer management, and flowers, and is excited to build not only our farm but community connections. They love people and share their love of fresh, nutritious produce and joyful flowers.

VOLUNTEER MANAGER
Veggies to Table seeks a Full or part-time Volunteer Manager to help coordinate, and manage the many volunteers on the farm while farming with, and teaching, them
Position Summary:
The Volunteer Manager is responsible for the overall management and success of the Volunteer Program. They have leadership responsibility for all volunteers including recruitment, onboarding, supervision, recognition, and retention. The Volunteer Manager will collaborate with the Executive Director and Farm Manager to ensure the changing volunteer needs are met.
The goal is to ensure that Veggies to Table volunteers feel fulfilled, happy, motivated, appreciated and part of our community and are correctly utilized for the fulfillment of our mission.
Position requirements and skills:
Minimum of two years farming or gardening experience — one of your main tasks will be to make sure the volunteers are working on the farm in an efficient manner
Experience leading and organizing groups of people
Excellent organizational and team coordination abilities
A pleasant outgoing personality with an ability to inspire
Experience volunteering
Able to work independently and collaboratively
Experience gardening and/or farming
Ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences

Duties and Responsibilities on the farm
Work with volunteers and Wwoofers of all ages on the farm
Make sure tasks are clearly explained and understood
Schedule everyday activities bases on skills, desires and abilities of volunteers in conjuction with the Farm Manahger
Frequent check ins to see that tasks are being carried out appropriately
Communication with volunteers to ensure they are satisfied, well-utilized and effective
Advocate for volunteers’ needs
Ensure the purpose of the organization and it’s actions are clearly communicated
Duties off the farm
Recruit volunteers through various techniques (press releases, e-mail, social media etc.)
Collect information on volunteer availabilities and skills
Arrange for appropriate training, orientations, and tours of the farm when needed
Streamline our volunteer management system
Assign responsibilities to the right people on the farm
Coordinate teams of volunteers for larger-scale actions
Disseminate information for upcoming actions and events
Keep detailed records of volunteers’ information and assignments
Coordinate with volunteers to sign liability waiver
Set up volunteers in Google Sheets for recording hours
Make sure the volunteers record their hours (we use this for grant purposes)
Our Volunteer Manager acts as an ambassador representing the values and mission of the organization to the public in all work activities.

SUMMER INTERNS
Veggies to Table is looking for two motivated interns to help with events, tabling, grant writing, social media, marketing, fundraising, and collaborating with our local partners.
You will help Veggies to Table:
Build capacity and create sustainable infrastructure
Work to develop systems to raise funds through grants, fundraisers and sponsors
Help develop a sustainable revenue stream for Veggies to Table through events, value added products, and Veggies to Table merchandise
Expand our communication systems to increase our reach through our newsletter, social media channels, and press.
Research and develop education partners, recipes and education strategies around healthy living
Create a volunteer handbook
You will also spend time on the farm in Newcastle learning about our process and no-till farming.
