Join us for a brief presentation on Foolproof mushrooms, followed by a foraging walk along the farm trails. We also invite participants to bring fresh mushrooms they've collected from their own local forests.
For beginners, collecting and consuming wild mushrooms can be quite intimidating. With so many different varieties, some of which can be challenging to differentiate, it's essential to proceed with caution. While some mushrooms are poisonous and can even be dangerously toxic, there are several common edible mushrooms that are easy to identify and have no toxic look-alikes. These Foolproof mushrooms can provide you with an abundance of safe and delicious options!
Mushroom author and educator Greg Marley will lead a talk focused on some of these common "foolproof" mushrooms found in the Northeastern United States. This presentation will be especially beneficial for those just starting their mushroom foraging journey or anyone who wants to enhance their skills in mushroom identification.
